A Toaster in the Refrigerator and Hypoglycemia

First of all, let me just say that I love my job. Since graduation, I have had the honor of working alongside some of the most amazing people I have ever come across. True, it is very bittersweet to part from OICA. I will miss my mentor and friend, my time spent on something I am sincerely passionate about, and my neverending knowledge gained while working there. However, I am so very blessed to be where I am now. God has a funny way of making everything happen better than we could have expected for ourselves.

About 23 years ago, my mom met a friend that would impact her life forever. At that time, she was working at a dentist office, helping to support her family while pregnant with...well...me. That's when she met Kim. Since then, the Taco Bueno booth has seen them weekly. Often times, they would switch it up and meet at Arby's or another restaurant to share the story of their life. Kim and her family soon became part of our family. Every birthday party or big happening, she was there. And now, she's still there. This time, I am the one working alongside her starting out a new stage in my life.

So now, I am a big girl. It seems like overnight I went from this little girl playing in her bedroom with a pen and paper pretending to know what work really was, to this-real life. I wake up at 6 o'clock in the morning, take a shower and throw on my scrubs (did I mention I work at a doctor's office?), take care of the pups and eat breakfast before heading out the door. I make the same morning drive, work eight-to-five, and head home. Truth-be-told, I love it. I love the routine of knowing what is going on in my life. Yet, at the same time, I love the break in the monotony when you throw people into the mix. It is never the same day at work, and it is never boring. I see families all day long. Most importantly, I know that the people leaving my office are better than when they came in. I am just one person helping to make a difference in the lives of thousands. I am so blessed!

Although I am very aware of my blessings, all of these new things bring along side-effects. One of which is fatigue. I know this to be true because I immediately turned to put the toaster into the refrigerator after making my sandwich for the day. Not to mention my recent diagnosis of hypoglycemia seems to be throwing me for a loop. On the bright side, it is a good thing I love cheese. Sometimes I seriously believe I was made for Italy. Just think about it, pasta...wine...cheese...bread...pastries...amazing! Can I please, please go to Italy someday?

Speaking of going. I better get back to work. Lunch break is almost over and I am halfway through the day. Until next time!
